Capitals reveal new video for the unreleased

‘Ode to an End’

In the run up to the release of their new double A side single, Jealousy / Sinking Ships out on Monday March 12th, Capitals have released a home shot video for previously unheard track ‘Ode to an End’. The track shows a different side to the band on which, for this one time at least, the high production values, big synths and tight beats are left out in favour of the bare bones of this raw and captivating piece of music.

Scottish electronic duo ‘Capitals’ set to release ‘Jealousy’ and ‘Sinking ships’ as a digital download double A side on March 12^th 2012.

‘Jealousy/Sinking Ships’ will be the first official release from the hotly tipped Edinburgh two piece ‘Capitals’, a band that specialise in dark, driving electronic music. Self released on Monday March 12^th this double A side single see’s the pair taking a step up from last years critically acclaimed free downloads ‘Hello World’ and ‘A Spectre is Haunting Europe’.

Written, recorded and produced by the band in their own studio, both ‘Jealousy’ and ‘Sinking Ships’ perfectly illustrate ‘Capitals’ ability to merge dark, driving and gritty production with an intense vocal delivery that packs a weighty lyrical punch. This musical partnership leads to the creation of tracks that captivate the listener from start to finish.

‘Capitals’ is the current musical Moniker of Angus Carbarns (ex The Cinematics and Theatre Fall) and Keir Macculloch (ex Araya, Benbecula Records). After a first year that saw them play various gigs, festivals and radio sessions around the UK, undertake a short European tour and headline club NME in Berlin ‘Capitals’ are knuckling down to write and release new music and concentrate on expanding their live shows.

Edinburgh Dream Pop factory ‘The Machine Room’ self-release debut EP ‘Love from a Distance’ March 5^th 2012.

‘Love from a Distance’ is the debut EP from hotly tipped Edinburgh synth pop 5 piece The Machine Room. Set for release on Monday March 5^th,‘Love from a Distance’ follows on from current single ‘Camino de Soda’, a track met with acclaim by press and public alike, that helped the band make an appearance in Vic Galloway’s ones to watch list for 2012.

This four track EP, telling the tale of a love gone wrong and executed in contemplative and beautiful manner, was recorded with Stephen Watkins at Edinburgh’s boutique Tape Studio and is being self-released by the Band. Stand out track ‘Your Head on the Floor Next Door’ definitely has the potential for a single release, hook laden and drenched in John Bryden’s honest falsetto vocal, the track soars in its mid-section before dropping into a catchy and concise final minute

Already regarded as one of the most exciting bands to arrive on the Edinburgh music scene of late, ‘The Machine Room’ are influenced equally by the bittersweet, succinct rhythms of ‘New Order’ and the jangly pre- Britpop wonder of ‘The House of Love’, and are being hailed as “ethereal, vulnerable and strikingly pop all at once.”

Capitals ‘Sinking Ships’, a taste of what is to come from bands debut E.P set for release early this year.

Capitals is the current project of Edinburgh based musicians Angus Carbarns and Keir MaCulloch. Together they produce a unique style of dark, driving; electronic music that perfectly merges the best elements of the pair’s very different, yet similarly accomplished musical backgrounds.

The pair released a string of singles and free downloads over the last year with tracks like ‘A Spectre is Haunting Europe’ and ‘Hello world’ gaining attention from both press and public alike. They followed these releases with a string of gigs and festival dates across the UK and Europe.
