My Tiny Robots to release Zut Alors, 23.01.12

Edinburgh oddpop quartet My Tiny Robots set to release new single ‘Zut Alors’ on digital and limited physical through Woodthief Records on the 23rd
 of January 2012.

My Tiny Robots - Zut Alor by PauseRecord

Sandwiched between ‘Guild of Defiants’ and the eponymous ‘My Tiny Robots’, ‘Zut Alors’ is the second in a set of three singles released by the band this winter all of which were recorded at Edinburgh’s Tape studio with producer Stephen Watkins.  Sitting somewhere between the serene and the surreal and laced with lyrical harmony and striking rhythmical interplay, in it it’s middle third, ‘Zut Alors’ is yet another sparkling slice of oddpop brilliance from one of the premier purveyors of the Genre.

Taking their cue from bands such as Modest Mouse and The Flaming Lips and following in lines laid out by the classics of the postcard-era, My Tiny Robots marry swoonsome vocal harmonies with tight rhythmical interaction to create a brand of music that is, at times, as anthemic as it is unconventional.

“A certain deftness of touch”

Steve Lamacq

“One of the best acts of their genre in the UK right now”

Dauphinmag.com

“It sounds like this is a band increasingly near to the perfect blueprint”

Camino de Soda - The Machine Room by PauseRecord
The first single to come from the band’s debut EP, Love From A Distance, set for release this coming spring and recorded at Edinburgh’s TAPE studio with producer Stephen Watkins, ‘Camino de Soda’ is a perfect slice of modern pop.  Tumbling drums and striking synth lines act as the perfect foil for John Bryden’s delicate vocal delivery, with the whole piece growing to a glorious yet eerie crescendo in it’s final moments.

Already regarded as one of the most exciting bands to arrive on the Edinburgh music scene of late, ‘The Machine Room’ are influenced equally by the bittersweet, succinct rhythms of ‘New Order’ and the jangly pre-Britpop wonder of ‘The House of Love’, they are being hailed as “ethereal, vulnerable and strikingly pop all at once.”

“If it’s synths and well crafted, beautifully sung pop-pomp you’re after, you can’t go far wrong”  - Tisickle.co.uk
“a strangely appealing weft and weave in their music, where the strict rhythms bow to an indie sensibility, and vice-versa. A pleasant, epic-sounding curio.”

The Machine Room feature in Kowalskiys singles club Dead Boy Robotics.

“Like 65daysofstatic hacking at the innards of the original Dr.Who theme” This is how The Skinny describe the long awaited debut album from Dead Boy Robotics. If dark and intense is your thing then this is well worth your money and if it’s not then you should still pick it up as it’s possibly the most accomplished album to come out of the capital this year and well worth a listen.

Chances - BBC Introducing- Radio 1 live | the machine room

You may download our live recording of ‘chances’ on BBC Radio 1 yo!

With their single release fast approaching The Machine Room have been very busy on the live front, here’s what Muso’s Guide thought of their stage time at the recent Twin Sister show at Edinburgh’s Sneaky Pete’s.
“At the start of the night it looked like we were on for an enjoyable time all the way through when first support act The Machine Room took to the stage. Their singer was apparently ripe for a cuddle in the words of one audience member whilst their blend of White Lies, New Order and shoegaze alone was enough to warm up the rest of us lucky enough to make it along for the start. Songs such as ‘Your Head On The Floor Next Door’, ‘Camino De Soda’ and the particularly robust ‘Picking Holes’ showcased a talented bunch of relative newcomers spawned from the fertile ground of Edinburgh College of Art.”
